After visiting Taj Mahal, I veered my vehicle towards Agra Fort. It is about 3 km away from Taj. It is also on the banks of Yamuna and made of Red sand Stone or Jaipur stone. Emperor Akbar reconstructed this fort on an old fort in the year 1573. All the great mughal kings from Babur to Aurangzeb lived here. Akbar made it as his administrative
capital considering it's strategic position. Jahangir was find of books and avid reader. He constructed his personal library. His palace was built in red bricks. Contrary to his liking his son Shah Jahan used marble extensively and used marble. His Mahal is much more beautiful. It has also two palanquin like mahals for two Shah Jahan's unmarried daughters. Two courts of Di-wan e Aam and Khaas are also there. A vineyards which was used to manufacture fine shahi wines.
Our vandalism and lack of respect to our history and heritage robbed much of the beauty of this fine structure.
The Image speak more than words.

If wish to visit this place in near future, keep enough time for a real leisurely stroll to enjoy it fully. Better to have a knowledgeable guide or a good guide book..
