Isn’t it strange how a 20 rupee note seems like such a large amount when
you donate it to temple, but such a small amount when you go shopping?
Isn’t it strange how 2 hours seem so long when You are at Temple, and how short they seem when You are watching a good movie?
Isn’t it strange that you can’t find a word to say when You are praying,
but you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?
Isn’t it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter
of the Bhagwad Gita, but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel?
Isn’t it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games? But they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Jagran?
Isn’t it strange how we need to know about an event for Temple 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can
adjust it for other events in the last minute?
Isn’t it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it
with others, but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?
Isn’t it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven, But No Body Knows where exactly it is……..
I do not want to insult any spiritual feeling of any viewer…..

Thanks for the compliments, dear chanchal. I wish you knew Bengali only to enjoy Tagore music which is heavenly. Yesterday I saw a classic film Waterloo Bridge and I was amazed that Tagore had composed his famous song - Purano sei diner katha seki bhola jai - on the theme music of that film.

Dear Kumud
Thank you Thank you
Except a few, all Bengalis are mesmerized by Rabindra Sangeet which has a song on almost all occasions..
I loved your musical comments...
Keep dropping to my space..

Mr. chanchal47,
This is how another gentleman viewed God -
MY GOD
Ever at a distance I stand
I never love you as my kin.
I know you as my father
And I bow at your feet
As a friend I don’t hold your hand.
As a neighbour
In simple love when you come to my door
In simple joy I don’t embrace you to my heart.
My lord
You are the brother in my brothers
Yet I don’t look at them
With them I strive for a share
Together we don’t fill your hand.
In joys and sorrows
I don’t rush out with help
Before you I cannot stand
In your work I become easily weary
I don’t plunge in it with all my heart.
Transcreation of song no. 92- Debata jene dure roi danraye/apan jene adar korine –from Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore. This has not been included in the English Gitanjali.
